ACTion Art 2020 Awards

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

ACTion Art is an annual exhibit that empowers adult artists with disabilities to display their art in a professional gallery format, and allows them to market and sell their work within the larger community. Each year, close to 100 adult artists with disabilities are featured in ACTion Art, with their work typically featured at the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

Due to closures and event cancellations associated with COVID-19, ACT worked hard to ensure that all of our ACTion Artists were still given a proper exhibition. Not only were ACTion Artists able to display and sell their art digitally, but their pieces were also submitted to a public vote for People's Choice!

Over 600+ votes were counted, coming in from all across the USA-- votes came from Honolulu, Seattle, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago, and everywhere in between.

“Being an ACTion Artist not only gives me an opportunity to showcase my creative side, but creates an avenue for me to connect with other artists and be part of an organization that gives so much to the local arts community," says ACT participant and People's Choice Award winner Breanne Kelderhouse.

Over three days, our ACTion Art Virtual Exhibit had an estimated total of 1500 views from five different countries.

For the first time, ACTion Artists were able to share their artwork with individuals from all across the globe! We're grateful for every artist who participated in this year's ACTion Art. We were not only blown away by their passion, skill, and creativity, but also by their positivity and flexibility as we worked on adapting our exhibition format.
