About Student Internships
Flexible Fields of Interests
An internship with ACT allows students to gain real-world experience in their area of study or interest, and are often related to the following fields: Art Therapy, Art Education, Event Planning, Fundraising, Graphic Design, Non-Profit Administration, Special Education, Social Media, Public Relations, and more! We are always open to new ideas!
Wide University Outreach
We work closely with colleges and universities in the Greater Grand Rapids area and beyond. Past interns have included students from Aquinas College, Calvin University, Central Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Kendall College of Art & Design, Kuyper College, Michigan State University, and University of Michigan.
Various Durations
Minimum of a semester-long or summer commitment to the organization. In some situations, internships are extended to two consecutive semesters.
15+ hours per week commitment during the course of the internship, including one evening on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. We require interns to have a set schedule of hours each week, along with flexibility for special events. Hours typically fall between Mon - Wed from 9 AM -8 PM, Thur - Fri from 9 AM - 5 PM, and some weekends as needed.
Requirements
Interns must be a college student or recent graduate.
If the internship involves working with children or in a hospital setting, the intern must successfully pass a background check and medical tests (i.e. TB test), receive a flu shot, and other possible requirements before beginning programming placements.
These are unpaid internships; however we do offer for-credit internships
and work-study opportunities may be available.
