ACT’s Open Studio used to be a creative gathering place for our community. We’d open our studio doors to both longtime students and new faces the first Wednesday of the month for creative art exploration in a large variety of art forms, guiding visitors through projects with step-by-step instruction. While we’ve been unable to invite people into the ACT studio over the last few months, we wanted to make sure we were still connecting with our community and offering a creative outlet for those who needed it.
ACT’s Open Studio Anywhere brings our monthly Open Studio programming to an individual’s home through downloadable lessons that teach about an artist and offer projects to help folks explore and create, allowing everyone to meet in a virtual space for guided art instruction. We’ve created colorful PDF packets with patterns and instructions for themed art projects for all abilities that can be downloaded prior to a step-by-step lesson broadcasted via Facebook Live. Open Studio Anywhere packets are free to download so that everyone can practice creativity.
Open Studio Anywhere has highlighted folk-artist Jessica Park and contemporary multimedia artist Kara Walker, with many more to come. You can find past and current Open Studio Anywhere packets on the ACT website!
