ACT offers a variety of classes for adults sixteen and older year-round. Currently, these
classes include in-person and virtual options focused on drumming, musical sing-along, and
creative movement.
Keenan has been attending classes for three years. He first learned about ACT as a
student in the Community Transition Campus program (CTC), where students gain
independence through job training and life skill classes with the Kent Intermediate School
District. ACT offers three sections of classes to CTC students each school year - a program
which recently adapted to zoom and pre-recorded sessions for the start of the 2020-2021
program year.
"Some people I met at CTC were doing ACT and that really sparked my interest in art."
Keenan said.
Some of Keenan's favorite classes include the apprenticeship program, Art Intensive class, and drumming classes. He has also participated in the Disney Sing Along classes.
"The one thing that sticks out to me as a favorite (part of the class) would be really getting creative. Getting creative with art whether it's the sing-along, drumming, or theater. You name it."
Ever since ACT began offering virtual options due to COVID-19, Keenan has only
attended virtual classes. He enjoys still being able to communicate with and see his friends and the teaching artists from afar.
