ACT Safety Measures

September 1, 2021

We know that creative programming is better when done collaboratively and in-person.  Our goal is to maintain an in-person creative environment that is both safe and comfortable for all.  That is why it is important that we all work together to keep our participating student artists healthy and safe.

MASKS and SOCIAL DISTANCING
  • In response to the public health order issued by the Kent County Health Department (KCHD) and the Ottawa County Department of Public Health, we will be:

    • Requiring masks for indoor programming for students in pre-K through 6th grade

    • Facial coverings are not required for youth with authorized mask exemptions

    • We will recommend, but not require masks for outdoor programming for participants of any age

    • We will encourage, but not require individuals 7th grade and above to wear masks for indoor programming

    • When possible, we will encourage physical distancing of three feet

  • We trust that each individual will make the best decision for themselves and/or those in their care.  Parents and Guardians may communicate their expectations to ACT for those in their care.  We will create an environment where everyone’s choice is respected and welcomed.

CLOSE CONTACTS and QUARANTINES
  • If we learn that an individual within an ACT program tested positive, we will work with the Kent County Health Department (KCHD) to identify individuals that were a close contact to this person.  Individuals and/or parents/guardians will be notified and the KCHD will require a 10-day quarantine.

  • Quarantines are also required for individuals living in the same household and/or group home with someone who tests positive for COVID as required by the KCHD.

  • Contact information of individuals identified as close contacts based on exposure at ACT will be given to the KCHD.

  • Further action may be required in this area as determined by the KCHD.

  • If someone at ACT tests positive, the name of the individual will be kept confidential from other participants.

ATTENDANCE and HEALTH SCREENING
  • Individuals with symptoms of illness should not come to ACT.

  • We will not be taking the temperature of individuals at the door or implementing a health screener.  We will rely on individuals, parents, and caregivers to screen themselves or those in their care prior to attending a function at ACT.

  • We do have thermometers on site if anyone would like to use one.

  • Symptomatic individuals will be sent home.  We will use the COVID prevention guidelines from the KCHD in order to maintain a safe environment at ACT by asking individuals with two signs or more of COVID to leave the studio and/or community location.

CLEANING and SANITIZING
  • We will ask for hand sanitizing and/or washing upon arrival to ACT. Throughout the class, we will encourage follow-up hand washing and/or sanitizing.

  • All shared art supplies, surfaces, tables/chairs, and high contact areas will be sanitized between classes.

  • Custodial staff and ACT staff will continue to sanitize the studio and mobile studio throughout the day and evening.

  • ACT has installed a Bipolar Ionization system to work with our HVAC to regularly clean and exchange the air in flow.

VISITORS and VOLUNTEERS
  • Volunteers will be allowed to support ACT classes and events.

  • ACT visitors during classes and events will be limited and by appointment only.

  • Parents and/or caregivers that are on site during class may sit in the upper or lower lobby. We also have outdoor seating on the deck if the class if happening indoors.

  • Students that require a caregiver and/or parent in class are welcome to do so.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER:
  • Stay home if you are sick

  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your arm

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer

  • Avoid close contact with individuals that are sick

  • Regularly clean high touch surfaces

  • Monitor your family’s health and be aware of COVID-19 symptoms

  • Contact ACT if you have tested positive for COVID-19

**There may be times when an ACT event and/or class occurs at a partner location and/or community event.  We will adhere to these guidelines in addition to the guidelines of the hosting partner.  We will send out instructions and updates before each off-site class and/or event, as needed.
